11 August 2002: Leaving

I felt like a schlub when I drove to Haitch's instead of riding my bike yesterday morning. We walked for an hour and then I helped her pack [read: broke a martini glass] until noon, when I scarpered for a swim in Cook Park. Which pool was occupied by some sort of Event and not having lap swim. If I'd been on my bike I'd've lost a lot more than 10 minutes from my Congress Park.

It shouldn't take me ten minutes to swim 300 meters, but I guess it does. I know my aerobic capacity is for shit these days. And I can't let myself think that it's my right knee that's weak instead of the surrounding musculature.

Anyway. I adopted two plants from Haitch, one to hang in my kitchen and the other, a large lush fern, to live in the sunroom when RDC has finished rebuilding its windows (when I got home, the frames were in pieces and the workroom layered in sawdust).

I would rather have Haitch. She leaves Tuesday.
