15 August 2001: More clutter

desk

  1. Pooh pencil box KRE bought me in Europe, with pens and one asparagus pencil for old times' sake, and purple refills for my green-barreled pens.
  2. Address of neighbors who moved to Amherst, now entered into database, which means the paper is clutter. Except that it's a handwriting sample of said neighbors.
  3. Definitely clutter. Coupons from Netflix I've never bothered to learn how to use and pages torn from Common Reader with books I'll never add to a list.
  4. Desk organizer. More pens, tape, scissors, stuff like that; on top are shells, a speaker, bottles of ink, a pewter knight.
  5. Lyle Lyle Crocodile Lovett Lounge Lizard
  6. Multi-photograph frame: RRP; CLH and me near the Maroon Bells; RDC; Nisou and Gigi; RDC2
  7. Webcam
  8. ZBD as a newborn
  9. My babysitting girls.
  10. Favorite CDs: Animal Logic, Kate Bush, Cocteau Twins, Cowboy Junkies, Peter Gabriel (see the stripe of Real World spines?), Godspell, Innocence Mission, k.d. lang, Fumbling Toward Ecstacy, Avalon, Shriekback, Cat Stevens, the Waterboys). On top, shells from my beach.
  11. A handmade card Egg gave me that she bought in the Ivory Coast, which I sent to Nisou. I think. Actually I dread it might still be in my backpack. Under that, an envelope for the Nature Conservancy, and under that, Short Sharp Shocked.
  12. Premade return address labels the Nature Conservancy bribed me with on top of Captain Swing.
  13. Clutter: neato clips for a skirt hanger from the drycleaner that aren't on a hanger or skirt.
  14. Walkman with French tape
  15. "Tense Present: Democracy, English, and the Wars over Usage," by David Foster Wallace, in Harper's Weekly. Baron Mustache-Wax mentioned this article (he said "recent, about English" and I knew what he was talking about) and was delighted when I produced it.
  16. Des'ree, I Ain't Moving. I've put it away now.
  17. Dusty stereo components waiting for a home
  18. The cable to empty my camera chip
  19. Coaster. Like I ever use it.
  20. Most of the study is pale Air Force blue. Someone edged this short length of wall to the right of the closet door and the whole wall behind my computer, both in darker Air Force blue, with the lighter color. Yes, I've owned the house for a year without painting it over. That's why I've got nine million things on the walls
