30 April 2000: Jenn and Kevin and everyone

In honor of months with five Saturdays, Jenn and Kevin hosted a Trivial Pursuit game. This meant I got to see their colorful house, meet their crowd, pet their rabbit, and humiliate myself. The capital of Ecuador, I ask you. I learned that in sixth grade, although apparently not permanently. When I said "Patrick Henry, " RDC--who hadn't heard me and so thought I didn't know--baited me, "And you say you're from New England?!" So I figured I was wrong and didn't suggest it as a final answer but of course he said "Give me liberty or give me death!" Plus I said "Captain Bly" for a yellow question and should have had my name inscribed on pieces of ostraka and been run out on a rail.

My team and I lost.

It wasn't the Blood Trivial Pursuit I play with my sister, whose favorite card game is something called Ratfuck and involves not only doing well yourself but figuring out how to screw over everyone else. There was no five-second time limit, there were no yells of "Don't talk! Play!" and the color orange was not pronounced "orntch." Hmm. Yes, yes, that's my excuse! It was so totally different from how I've played the game in the past that I didn't recognize it as Trivial Pursuit--of course!--and that's why I played so badly. Sure...

But Jenn and I documented each other's existence.
