Christmas 1995 and Christmas 1998

Our camera has developed a light leak, badly evident in the righthand jpeg, but I wanted to show this detail of a photograph for leg contrast. Yes, I'm vain and insecure. Get over it.

On the left, Christmas 1995 in Aspen. RDC found me Monty a few weeks before in Breckenridge, and I don't know how he kept him hidden from me until Christmas. Not that I peek on purpose, you understand, just that some things are bigger than others. Here I am in Yuletide comfort, in my FAO Schwartz nightshirt and glasses (all ready for the pajama breakfast party we'd attend later that day) with my moose. My old boss JBM gave me that nightshirt. It's purple (so he thought of me) and has a big rocking horse on it. I love it. I'd been working out regularly for a month but not yet progressed to the Stairmaster, which would strip my legs of that bulgy texture in four months flat.

On the right, Christmas 1998. I originally posted the 1995 photograph because this was the instant Monty arrived in my life, as you can tell from the grin, but despite the leg (which I could/should have cropped out). Our most recent (as of 30 June 1999) roll of film stretches from Christmas (as you see) to the 20th of June (partly because of the light leak, partly because I guess we're just not picture people) and I was delighted to see that this Christmas, in my own house, I had my priorities straight and was sharing the day with Booboo. It's a different bathrobe (both violet terrycloth from Victoria's Secret though) but the same glasses.

The other reason this jpeg is important is that it might be my only picture of me with Boo.
