treeBabe

I know people who love "It's a Wonderful Life" and hate "Babe" or vice versa. I love both, which I guess makes me indiscriminately smarmy.

I do believe that if I hadn't been all overwrought the first time I saw "It's a Wonderful Life" I would have dismissed it with the remains of my faint Objectivist tendencies, which I haven't trampled thoroughly. And if I had first seen "Babe" 19 times in one week with a three-year-old, I might not have liked it, either. But I rented it and watched it at home, with Hamlet or Morse, hooting with laughter and delighted tears. Tonight it was on Starz! (is there some agreement among advertisers not to spell consistently anymore?) again and I watched bits of it again: the saddest happiest part is not Babe's success at the trials but when Farmer Hoggett dances for him and Babe understands he is loved.

treeThe walk

Really the Highline Canal trail is lovely. Today we saw a hawk and discovered a colony of prairie dogs--whose lot is up for sale. Poop. But already the shorts I thought I had shrunk in the wash fit as they are meant to.

treeHamlet

I am typing this at the desk with Hamlet in front of me and Blake on my leg. Usually it's Blake who raises a foot up to be picked up; but now I see Hamlet has developed a gimp and looks like he wants to be picked up. In Hamlet's favor, I'll say his ears are much more appealing than Blake's gaping skull holes.

treeWomen and the Law

I have an exam tomorrow so I'll procrastinate no more. I figured out great mnemonics for my cases, though.
