Since I stopped walking to work, I no longer listen to books even as much as I did in 2002. I cannot listen to headphones on my bike, but when I drive if I don't listen to NPR it's because I remembered to plug in a book. It's not a long enough drive for a good book chunk. I expected to listen while gardening, but my iPod gets filthy. Absent long solo car trips, audio books come in handy during long tedious jobs like mailings at work.
Irene
Hunt, Across Five Aprils
Though I loved No Promises in the Wind, I never read either
of her two more popular books, not even though they were mentioned in Look
Through My Window. Now I'm remedying that.
Victor
Hugo, The Hunchback of Nôtre Dame
George Guidall, mmmmmmm. A lower quality recording than the
first two (below) from Audible.com. Certainly fit my audio criterion of "books
I wouldn't otherwise read."
Richard
Denby, Great
Books (abridged)
Eh.
Stephen Hawking, The
Universe in a Nutshell
Not good material for listening, to me. Any hope I had of comprehension (slight)
was lost when I couldn't reread.
Go to previous or next season, Introduction to Audio, Words, or the Lisa Index.
